Jewelers & salespeople...clarification

Thanks for the responses,I just want to be clear. I have no
intention of letting this gentleman go. He’s talented, kind and an
asset. I will be hiring an additional jeweler, so that I can have
options. At present, he is the only craftsperson I have that can do
specific fabricating tasks. If he’s not performing, I have no-one
else to in shop to go to.

In the meantime, my question was more to how do I manage such an
employee so that we both win. Any suggestions as to structure or
procedures that might make us both successful?? And again, does anyone
experience difficulties with sales staff where one or two are bench
trained, and others are not??? If so how do you resolve those
conflicts.

I hope this helps clarify what I’m trying to achieve.

Again thanks for the thoughts, Gianna
