Iodine stains

How do you remove unintentional iodine stains from white gold?

How do you remove unintentional iodine stains from white gold?

You should be able to do it with a sodium thiosulfate (“hypo”)
solution. You may need to acidify the solution slightly. Then wash
well in water.

G’day;

With difficulty. But try rubbing with strong sodium thiosulphate
solution (photographic hypo) You see, iodine doesn’t just stain the
metal, but actively combines with it to form an iodide complex. But
hypo does remove the colour from iodine stains. Anyway, it certainly
won’t do any harm even if it doesn’t do any good. > – John Burgess;
