rriffe My wife and I have been doing one of a kind commissioned
cast pieces for the past 25 years. We work mostly with 14K and
18K gold diamonds and other precious stones. We have done a great
deal of fraternal work (Eastern Star, Rainbow, Masonic). I have
been following the casting threads for some time and I can agree
that the most important aspect of casting is the sprueing process
especially when light thin parts are seperated from heavier
parts. I probably over sprue but I rarely have a failure. After
spending so much time on a project I dont want to have to do it
again.

My wife does the design work and I do most of the mechanical
work although she does some of the finishing as she has the
lighter touch. I enjoy lurking in the background but will
contribute when I think I have something useful to say. Thanks,
Ron

Hi all Have been lurking for some months with a contribution from
time to time. My wife and I have been involved with jewelry
making for over 35 years mostly as a part time business. We both
have art backgrounds and do only commission work. My wife Joan
does most of the design work and I do the manufacturing end. We
do mostly cast work using 14 and 18 ct gold and usually diamonds
or other precious stones. We have been involved with “logo” work
and much fraternal work. We will continue to enjoy the digest,
but the forum becomes just tooooo much. Thanks, Ron and Joan

I have been here before and I am back. My wife Joan and I have a
small part time jewelry business, JNR creations that we have had
for nearly 20 years. We do commission design and manufacture of
jewelry products. Our designs are executed mainly in 14 or 18
karat gold using diamonds and other precious stones. We were
both art minors in college and started casting about 1957. Most
of our work is cast from original models. We enjoy lurking and
contribute if a contibution will be useful. Thanks
