I’m a part-time metalsmith, working in my home studio. Sometimes I put in
several evenings a week and other times several weeks may go by before I
use it. My question has to do with a method of testing pickle (I use
Sparex) to determine when it’s time to be replaced. With my intermittent
use, simple times frames aren’t effective. Recently, fire scale has become
more or a problem, so I plan to change the pickle. I do use the
alcohol/borax flux, dip & flame twice before soldering. Anyway, it would be
nice to know when solutions need to be changed. Thanks in advance. judy
