I am a designer/goldsmith with over 26 years experience in the
design of one of a kind and limited production jewelry in gold,
platinum & silver. Most of my time is spent doing one of a kind,
custom made pieces for private clients. I have recently established
a web site, (12/97), to showcase new designs. In addition I do
some work designing and producing corporate gifts and specialized
hardware for hand made furniture. I majored in Design at Cranbrook
Academy of Art, M.F.A., 1965.

I have recently established a web site, (12/97), to showcase
 new designs.

Hello Joel: What is the web address?

Hello Joel, are your pieces your creation, and were u able to
live out of only doing custom p. , withpout the side jobs? I’m
starting off myself and sometimes find it impossible to only do
one of a kind pieces. Do u exhibit anywhere? Biba,SF.

I am a designer/goldsmith with 27 years of experience in many
aspects of the jewelry business. I started making jewelry while
living in Spain in the early 70’s. I established a small retail
& wholesale business there and returned to the States in 1975. I
then opened a craft gallery in Nyack, NY, and started a custom
design business.Over the years I had the opportunity to design
and craft pieces for more than 2000 clients. At the beginning of
1997 I decided to close my gallery and focus on just doing
private commissions for clients. I have been doing that for the
past 2&1/2 years, working in gold, platinum & silver. I am a
graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art with an M.F.A. degree. I am
enjoying the freedom of working from my studio in my 120 year old
Victorian home in Nyack, NY, a beautiful Hudson River village
about 20 miles north of New York City. I would be interested in
hearing about how other jewelers got hooked on this way of life
and about their experiences.

Hi Joel, I too have worked at the goldsmith/jewelry game for the
last 27 years. I too have a gallery store in a beautiful area,
Camden, Maine on the Northeast coast of America about 4 hours
North of Boston. Things here have grown wonderfully although
they have at times been challenging. I currently have 15
employees making and selling the pieces I design as well as the
work of about a dozen other jewelry designers. We sell in our
Camden showroom and in about 200 stores aroun the world. The
intgernet is quickly becoming an important sales tool for us. It
allows us to comunicate with the world from the most beautiful
spot in America. I wish you all the best.

Thanks,
Etienne Perret

Etienne, Thanks for your message, I have been aware of your
work, primarily through the various crafts media, over the years.
My wife and I are going to be spending a little time in your area
the last week of July. If you are going to be around perhaps we
could drop in and meet you. We will be staying in Booth Bar
Harbor for a few days. This will be our first trip to your part
of the world and we are looking forward to it.I look forward to
hearing from you. Joel
