International shipping

I have an order for four pieces of silver jewelry and it is going to
the Netherlands. I have been trying to get an estimate of the
shipping costs and what I got from UPS and FED X was $93.00 -
$103.00. I will be insuring the package for about $800.00.

I feel sure that some of you do ship internationally from the US and
was wondering if there is any other way to get a package over there
for less money. I did call the USPS and they said no international
shipping of jewelry, diamonds, etc.

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

Hi Lona,

I ship internationally and find it difficult as best. I wish there
were better options but what has been working for me is USPS
international Priority. The conditions of the shipments are always
changing. For instance the current limit on insurance is $650 for
this service. I did a calculation on your package assuming it as
between 1/2 and 1 lb and got about $45 to the Netherlands.

USPS GXG service with the full $800 insurance is about $67 (from my
shipping location). I often put small boxes in the GXG Tyvek envelope
(15-1/2" x 12-1/2").

Best wishes, Debbie. and if you find a better alternative please let
us know!

I ship via USPS but they don’t offer insurance. Your customer will
need to be responsible for any customs, duties, etc.

DHL is who I have used for shipping expensive art work (not jewelry -
paintings and such).

Shipped some medicine to Greece via UPS this summer and it was a
disaster :(The local office didn’t put the correct forms on the
parcel, it got held up in Customs in Greece, nearly missed arriving
by when it was needed, and cost a small fortune in added fees because
of the incorrect forms. So I sure won’t use them again for
international shipments of anything :frowning:

I was wondering about shipping to Canada. Sent a 2 lb package worth
approximately 600.00 via UPS and it came to 62.00 with tariffs and
such. Guess I don’t understand NAFTA. Any better ideas? Thanks Max

Huh. I used the USPS before…
