I am trying to design a pair of dangle earrings. the earring would
have the post, French ear wire, Latch or something ??? with or with
out a stone mounted and then a 25mm +/- dangle/wire/ from which I
would like to able to hang different pairs of stones. I need to find
a way to insure that the stones are safe while being worn and easy to
change out. The pairs of stones would be in settings and be able to
hook/fasten on to the dangle. It’s hard for me to describe, but the
photo from The Amazon.com Collection, is the easiest example I could
find.I want to be able to change the stone at the bottom of the
earring with other colors and shapes of set stones. What can I use to
hook the stone to the wire?
I can’t actually understand the point of having interchangeable
dangles on an a pair of earrings as opposed to simply making separate
earrings. After all, most of the precious metal, all of the stones
and most of the work in the dangle while the post or hook to which it
attached is simple to fabricate and has less than a gram of metal. I
could imagine how it could be done — a delicate and decorative
variation of a box clasp or similar spring loaded device would do but
these are usually a great deal more work than a hook which I can
fabricate in few minutes.
Would can use a stone bead. By using a bead have a post with a
thread and screw bead at bottom. I have machining skills. This may
be easier said from me then done for you.
That is what I would do to “Hook” your interchangeable stone.
The Woolmark studs can be worn alone, or any of the hoops, topazes
or amethysts can be attached. Additionally, the amethysts or topazes
can fit inside the hoops.
Both the hoops and the studs have closed rings into which the shaped
prongs (visible on the amethysts and topazes) fit. The hoops also
have prongs, but they are not visible in the photo.
The prongs are made of springy white gold, and the gap between them
and the mount is just a little bit smaller than the thickness of the
gold wire that forms the rings.
