Amongst the jewelers I know it is pretty common knowledge that
you can’t really afford insurance on your inventory.
Attached to my homeowners polices however I do have my studio,
display set-up, materials and jewelry I have added to my “private
collection” insured. Pieces I have decided to keep. All is
videotaped with a narration of cost etc. on the tape. One copy in
my safe…one at somebody else’s house.
I just got a show application where they required you to have 1
million dollars in liability for the event…it’s about $55
bucks but it certainly adds a burden if you have to do that for
every show.
Karen, in Northern Illinois…I was the only house on the block
with a smashed pumpkin in front of it…next year I’m giving out
better candy.
