I have had some of Kate Wolf’s wax carving tools for over a year.
Since wax is not my main media I haven’t used them much until
recently. I love these tools and recommend them to anyone carving
wax. I used to use a file and some of those Japanese wood carving
tools for my wax and actually wondered why one would pay so much for
wax carving tools. Kate had donated some of her hand made tools to
the Orchid dinner auctions and on the last year she made her tools
herself I bid on them but didn’t win them. She got me a set of the
tools now available in the Rio Grande catalog, pg 391, and now I know
what I was missing. These tools save time and produce results
superior to the files and wood chisles I used to use and that is what
tools are supposed to do. If ever you have a chance to see Kate in a
demo or class do so, she is a fantastic teacher and person.
