I’m currently looking to add a MECO Midget Torch to my studio setup, as I’ve heard absolutely wonderful things about them from fellow makers! While I know I can keep an eye out on eBay or other big online platforms, I really wanted to check within our community first to see if I could support a fellow jeweler.
Does anyone happen to have a MECO Midget Torch that you’re no longer using or looking to rehome?
I know they can fetch a pretty high price online right now, but I’m hoping to find one for around $200–$230 including shipping (I am located in California).

I bought mine from Otto Frei years ago and it served me well as I transitioned from a single stage plumbers acetylene torchs to fuel and O2, first acetylene and then propane. It’s performance was greatly improved when I added Paige tips. It appears that neighter Meco torches nor Paige tips are available. I also use a Little Torch. I have found myself using it more and more with Paige tips where I used to use the Meco. I still use the Meco for larger pieces and melts. If you have a Little Torch, you might look at ImpGen tips. Others on ganoksin speak well of them and they can be adapted to the Little Torch. You will likely have to increase your budget. Also look at either the Meco or the Little Torch on propane and O2 from a concentrator. There are ways to do away with regulators and heavy hoses if you do. Do a search on ganoksin and you will find a ton of information. Good luck…Rob
I came across the attached while searching TM Technology. TM (Tin Man) used to sell Meco Torches and accessories, but the owner died. GPE appears to be in Great Britian and may sell a Meco style torch. I am waiting for confirmation from them…Rob

However, we are currently working on a new prototype which would be the same as the Meco Midget Torch. These should be available in the next 6 – 8 weeks.

Glad to help. No, I don’t need another torch. I have a Meco, 2 Little Torches, and EZ Torch, a butane torch, a hoke torch, and an acetylene plumbers torch…Rob
I got mine 4 years ago from tin man that Rob mentioned and it was $208, but I think that was the body only. My invoice is about $400 including several tips and hoses etc. it’s a fantastic torch and I greatly prefer it to the little torch I used to use. Sorry to hear tmtech isn’t anymore, they had good stuff. Keep in mind for any torch you buy that tips and hoses can easily exceed the cost of the torch body. The Impgen tips look great, I ran Paige tips on my little torch and I had mixed opinions although they were an improvement on the stock tips. Personal style and needs has a lot to do with it
I haven’t seen many used midgets for sale, people tend to covet them. The gpescientific version sounds interesting, just know there may be variations in thread type for uk equipment. I don’t remember offhand their standards. The best wishes!
