How you sand/ finish these beads?

Hi,

as i sit here hand sanding my beads with emery paper (320, 400, 600, 800), i am wondering what process you all might use…

…silicone/ rubber wheels?…sanding discs?…3M scratch wheels…compounds and muslin/ felt buffs…what grit progression?…

i tried all of the above…but am back to hand sanding…

i will buff with graystar and then picasso blue after 800 grit…

My go to is an Eve medium abrasive wheel followed by tripoli then rouge. Using your tool, you can control what surface is being ground, sanded or polished. You might consider tumbling…Rob

That’s what I would suggest too. Tumbling. It really depends on how shiny you want them, but with abrasive media you can remove most scratches. That’s how I’ve finished lentil shaped metal beads.

Great idea for a handle!

I use the 3M polishing papers for small items. And I too love the little handle you’ve made. I’ve been sanding and polishing tiny little silver disk beads, and my finger tips are a mess! Great tip…Thanks

Can you fit the beads on a wood toothpick. That is how I have managed beads, and then I sand with sanding discs on the flexshaft. The toothpick keeps a pretty tight hold on the bead, it your hole size accomodates it.

Could you put them on your flex shaft and “reverse polish” them?
