I've read all Gladwell's books and love them. You will enjoy Tipping Point very much. It's fascinating and may help you identify people who can help you "make luck happen".
John, I totally agree, and so does Gladwell. Luck isn’t the ONLY
thing that matters and I didn’t mean to imply that it did. Talent,
practice, hardwork, and positioning yourself intelligently (in a city
vs. a farm) are definitely vital parts of the equation. And with
those elements you will almost certainly achieve some level of
success. It’s just that those things, by themselves, do not gaurantee
the kind of super-stardom one might achieve by having Micelle Obama
wear your jewelry. THAT is where the luck comes in. And that’s what
the book Outliers was about, more or less. The case studies in the
book are fascinating.
