How do you knot beads?

Thanks for the great answers on my question about knotting between
beads for a more custom look on an expensive necklace/pendant.

A couple of people suggested that they knot with both nylon and
silk? How do you do that? Doesn’t the nylon kink? Or do you just
run the strand of nylon through the middle of the silk knots?

Another suggestion to consider for heavy or beads that might have
edges that wear away things is to find a local upholsterer and
purchase some of their threads – heavier than standard and comes in
a variety of colors.
