Has anyone experimented with a small cheap crafters glue gun that
has a rheostat - I think that is the correct term - to control the
temperature? It should be fairly easy to make a mold of the glue
stick and cast some in wax. It would have to be a new gun that had
never been used for glue though! Karen
Hi Gang,
Has anyone experimented with a small cheap crafters glue gun that has a rheostat - I think that is the correct term - to control the temperature?
FWIW: A handy tool to have in the shop for controlling the temp of
things like glue guns & soldering irons that have been converted to
wax pens is a light dimmer.
All that’s needed is a light dimmer, a duplex outlet,a standard 4"
electrical junction box, a cover with 1 duplex outlet & 1 switch
opening, a connector and an extension cord. The outlet end will be
cut from the extension cord, the cord & plug will be used to power
the box.
After connecting the electrical components & installing them in the
box, any glue gun, soldering iron or light can be plugged into the
outlet & the heat or brightness can be controller by the dimmer
switch.
