High grade blue chalcedony

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a source for blue chalcedony rough. I want high
color saturation and translucency. I’ve searched the internet and
found very few suppliers and I’m not sure what overseas vendors I
can trust.

I visit Tucson every year and haven’t found blue chalcedony rough of
high quality. Of course, it’s hard to visit all of the vendors in
Tuscon but I was told by one vendor that it just doesn’t exist at
the Tucson Shows due to the market demands elsewhere.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could direct me to a
reputable supplier. BTW, I don’t trust E-Bay.

Thank you in advance.

On ebay, you can totally trust the seller known as esciguy, Ken
Diede. Use ebay’s advanced search, and enter esciguy in the “show
only items from this seller” option. Be sure to use all lower case.

Another totally trustworthy ebay seller is Don Knight, dcknightjr,
whose items are all prefixed with the searchable string DKCK. But I
don’t remember him having blue chalcedony, unless you’d settle for
Holley blue agate.

And West Coast Gems is 100% totally reliable, owns a number of mines
in the Northwest.

Literally days before i did my flying lesson with a garden hose, I
was on the slope of a mountain collecting blue agates. I have a big
bucket full of rough and can send you a chunk. It’s agate not
chalcedony. I have not polished any of it, but I’ve seen some from
that same area polished and it has a nice blue color similar to the
chalcedony. Just send me you address off list and I will send you a
chunk.

Agate is a variety of chalcedony. - Lorraine

It's agate not chalcedony.

You can have chalcedony that is not agate, because agate has a
banded structure.

But agate IS a form of chalcedony, only with that banded/layered
structure. And in some agate, that banded structure can be so
convoluted and confused that it’s really not that apparent, such as
many moss agates or the like.

Agnes, Thank you for your offer but I have a “ton” of agate rough.

I am in search of top grade blue chalcedony - only.

Hi Vicki

Some of the German dealers at the GJX show in Tucson have blue rough
in better grades and occasionally high grade as well. You can shop
with them in Germany which can get complicated. If you have a small
sample of what you are looking for maybe send it along as conversing
in German can get complicated also.

hope you find what you are looking for.
