Handy use for something intended for jewelry

For solder pallions, to keep them separated…I divide the top of my
charcoal block with a scribe…not too deeply, into four parts. On
one side of the block I mark EY and HY for 14k easy and 14 hard, the
other half is EW and HW. This works great for repair work where
you usually use a certain type of solder frequently. I also mark
the sides of the block with the same marks. After a while, you just
have to look at your block and you know which square has what
solder. If I cut an unusual solder, I use the center of my
charcoal block and put the pieces there. After the job, I remove
the unusual solder to a small tin.
