Hand-on practice

Would there be anyone in St. Louis Missouri with the time, and the
wiliness to help a 41 year old disabled husband, father of 2, and
long time jewelry enthusiast in his pursuit to retrain for a career
as a jeweler, goldsmith / silversmith ? I have tools, bench and
basic background. Currently working on my GIA Graduate Gemologist
Degree. Not interested in clocks or watches at this time. Want to
get the skills and knowledge that will help me be a quality bench
jeweler, and be someone my daughters will be able to look up to in
the future, and not be ashamed of due to an unwanted accident which
left me disabled a few years back. I would think someone like an
advanced hobbyist or a retired jeweler, or with time on their hands
would be best as there isn’t the added stress of trying to run a
business why someone is bugging you with questions all the time.

I believe that you might be able to change or extend your courses
and go for something like a Graduate Gemologist Jeweler qualification
rather than just the plain GG. Ask at GIA Education headquarters in
Carlsbad. I think that you can get the practical bench training
there.
