Hallmark: 14K EMI

I have a Ring I am working on that is marked 14K EMI on the inside.
I checked the Archives but didn’t find anything. Anybody know what
EMI means? I figure it’s Electroplated something.

Most likely, it’s the trademark of the manufacturer

Dear Char,

We have an older JCK brand and hallmark book. We looked up EMI and
found that hallmark belongs to Exclusive Merchandiser’s Inc. Their
hallmark is a very swirly capital “E” and “M”, and a lower case “i”.
I don’t know anything about the company themselves.

More likely it is the maker’s trademark.

EMI is most likely the markers mark. Does this piece look like it was
made by a large manufacturing company or a small studio jeweler?

I do have one reference for a company that uses the EMI mark in fancy
script with the EM as large letters and the i as a small letter. The
company is “Exclusive Merchandiser’s inc” and they are located at 700
Main Buffalo, N.Y. 14202. I do not know anything about this company
so I am not aware if they actually manufacture jewelry or just market
it.

There can be many other people and companies using a mark of EMI as
well.

EMI is a manufacturer I know they do “Mother’s rings” When I used to
work for a jeweler a few years ago we used them.

EMI probably identifies the company that manufactured this ring.

The EMi Co. is located in Buffalo, NY. They have their own line and
do some casting for the trade.

Dear Richard,

I have gone over pretty much the entire “S” section of the trademark
book we have, and I don’t find anything that resembles your marks.
However, my JCK Guide Book is pretty dated now, being the 12th
edition which came out in 1994. Maybe there is someone out there
with a more current edition?
