GRS Power Hone diamond spray solution

Do members know of an alternative to the diamond spray solution used
with the ceramic lap on the GRS Power Hone tool. You may know this
tool is used for graver sharpening and in the UK this solution
sells for 30 UKP per small bottle, are there cheaper alternatives or
suppliers?

Hi Alan,

Do members know of an alternative to the diamond spray solution

I’ve never used or seen the spray you’re describing, but you might
try places that sell supplies to folks who facet stones. They use
diamond grits in many size for cutting & polishing stones, many
times on ceramic laps. In the US, there are several faceting
suppliers with websites.

Alan - once I have charged the ceramic lap with the diamond spray,
it’s good for a long time. Originally, I thought you had to charge it
nearly every time you use it. It also helps to have the 1200 grit
lap, your graver is much smoother prior to final polishing on the
ceramic lap. As to where to get the diamond spray, try your lapidary
supply.

Alan,

I use 8000 mesh diamond paste that is available from most lapidary
suppliers like Diamond Pacific, a 5 gram tube is $17.50. They have
diamond spray in 600 to 100,000 mesh for $9.00 a bottle.

I also prefer a plastic lap to the ceramic.
