Someone in this group asked me about a new Green Topaz appearing
in the Hong Kong marketplace.If it is the product marketed under
the name Mystic Green and Mystic Blue Topaz and others,it is
created by spraying the back of a cut White Topaz with the same
coating used on sunglasses.They are advertising it as a permanent
treatment,but common sense should tell you it is not.Although the
back of a stone receives a lot less abrasion,and this tinting is
quite durable it is still just a coating of probably less than
3-4 hardness on the moh scale.
