Can anyone tell me why the gold market closes at 2:30 p.m. each day
in NY as opposed to 4:30 like the rest of the markets? Even
sophisticated investors that I work with don’t seem to know the
answer to this question.

Perhaps it is due to the date line. Tokyo markets may be opening!

Re closing of the gold market at 14:30. What time does it close in
London? Could it be a time zone issue?
