Gem stone setting classes

Finally after 12 months of promoting a class on gemstone and diamond
setting. I now have a class to teach in Toronto. Seven or eight
students will now learn how to correctly set these stones.

I prefer .925 silver and Cz’s, why? This soft metal and stones can be
very forgiving and allows some form of confidence to the novice
student. Is it possible for anyone to learn this skill in 40 hours?

I once had a pharmacist sit by himself at the back of class,
whittling away on his silver. I left him alone I knew he was doing
something right. So after one or two lessons he showed me his
collection of rings…to the classes amazement, his setting was
superb. I gave him a perfect A+, my classes have to be marked and
verified on paper! Now I can ask the students to read my “Gerry’s
Blog” and use this in our training sessions.

I applaud you for teaching this skill. Please don’t be like most of
the other teachers out there and tell these students, “There! Now you
ARE A STONE SETTER, TAKE YOUR PIECE OF PAPER AND GO GET A JOB!” I
guess it does keep my repair business well stocked with work, so
maybe I shouldn’t complain! LOL
