A local wholesale manufacturer was “selling” 14 karat gold rings at a real cheap price.
Many retail stores heard of this great deal and everyone bought ordered tons of the rings at this rediculous cheap price!
UNTIL the Federal Canadian government caught wind of this and came into some of the stores. They literally scanned the trays of inventory and whoops! Every ring made by this particular wholesaler had his karat and trademark stamp and these were assayed at only ‘12.5 karat’. The wholesale mfg’r had to refund the stores the $$’s difference. He declared bankruptcy and closed his business down. A few $$’s cheaper is not always cheap!
