Fume extractor recommendations

Hi everyone! Is there a fume extractor anyone would recommend to use while soldering? Thanks!

I use a cheap stove hood from Lowes ducted directly to the outside over about 4 feet of metal ducting…Rob

I use a stove hood too, fairly low (12") above the soldering table.

I added a 400 Cu.Ft.Min. fan from AC Infinity at the wall where it exhausts out. I like the extra draw.

The hood’s built in fan is simple and very old now and still works, but the AC Infinity fan stopped working after a few hours of run time. They sent me a replacement, and after a while it stopped working too. Then the original worked again, and now neither does… I have no idea what the problem is with them. The control pads of each light up, but that’s all. I would not buy an AC Infinity again but the extra draw of a 400 Cu.Ft.Min. fan is nice.

I’ve got a welding fume extractor piped through 6” ducts over my soldering station and my bench, it goes outside.

I’m using an Infinity Cloudnine 6” inline fan with duct from a big box. It vents direct outside. Here’s a link to a photo,

There’s many options. I’ve used all of the excellent suggestions that folks are sharing here.

One other very low tech idea is soldering next to an open window with a fan shooting out the window. It works surprising well. At least if it’s not freezing or raining outside.

If you can’t vent outside, I’m a big fan of the Quatro Gold Vault or Quatro Solder Pure ductless ventilation solutions. They’re more high tech and expensive, but work very well.

Lots of ideas to choose from!

Thank you all! I was looking at a tabletop one that doesn’t have to vent outside but I think after seeing your recommendations I may rethink that. I don’t have a lot of space is the only problem.

Nancy L. T. Hamilton has a YouTube showing how she made her own fume extraction system. But her system does need to be vented outside.

I just saw this on the Pepe Black Friday sale. I don’t know how well it works? It has a pre-filter, Hepa filter, and an activated charcoal filter, which is essentially what’s in the Quatro ductless solder ventilation units. It’s made by Arbe, not Pepe. Arbe has a pretty good reputation within the jewelry tool world. They make lots of stuff.

If all that you’re looking for is small table top solder vent that isn’t routed outside, it might be a good way to go. Again, I’ve never used it, but it looks like it might be what you’re looking for.

Yes, I too saw this and was going to buy it as the sale price was too good to pass up…BUT, they’re out of stock!!! So bummed because I need one and the sale price is really great.

I’d try emailing Pepe Tools and see if you can do a back order? I’ll bet if this tool will be available fairly soon they will. It’s worth a try.

I was on Long Island a few years ago on business and stopped at the Arbe factory. They gave me a tour of the factory. I have had several pieces of Arbe equipment and been happy with it. They sell through a number of distributors…Rob
