Frosted Silver

#1

Here I was assuming someone else would mention these techniques:
First, you want to bring up as much fine silver to the surface by
repeated heating and quenching in pickle. That will give you a
lovely white frost finish alone. To maintain any without polishing
and cleaning, the surface will have to be protected by lacquer or
something.

One very simple way to frost, if you can remove a bit of the metal,
is going over lightly with a Mizzy wheel. It’s a “heatless” grinding
wheel that should be available wherever jewelers supplies are sold.
Experiment with directional or overall coverage to get a pleasing
effect.
