Flexshaft handpieces

I use a #30 too, but I sometimes get tired because of the
thinckness of it and wish I had a slimmer handpiece. Haven’t
heard anyone else coment on this aspect yet.

I lke the Faro (10D) handpiece without the duplex spring- I have
2 of them and my parttime helpers grab the second one for their
own use. The drawback is that it takes only 3/32" shank burs- so
I plan around it. I had a Techno, and one of my studio mates has
settled on that design- of the two the Faro is slimmer and the
collet needs no adjustment- though occasional lubrication helps.

Thanks for the comments on the Faro. #8 and some other collet
styles are cheaper, but I hear they get hot and Faro doesn’t —
is that true in your experience? Also, why the Faro specifically
WITHOUT the duplex spring?

The Faro doesn’t get hot at all. My preference is without the
spring- I run the handpiece at rather high speed with the carbide
burs- so it is just personal preference. The collet will stick
after a while (a couple years), but just lubricate it with a bit
of oil. I also now like the Lucas foot control for the S
machines- nice product.
