Faceted semi-precious beads

I saw a peice of jewelry in a magazine with semi-precious,faceted
beads, and would love to work with them. Does anyone know where to
get them? Also, I just started selling my peices to individuals and
want to start selling to stores. Any advice? I make mostly silver,
all fabricated, but I would like to start casting some of my peices
for a production line. Any advice welcome. Thanks!

TAJ Company, 800-325-0825 in New York at 42 W. 48th St., Zip: 10036

I have been getting some faceted beads from India and Thialand. The
ones from Thialand I found on Ebay, the auction website. The Thialand
company charges $15. for shipping (they Fed-x everything) so you need
to order several strings to make it pay. They combine winnings for 10
days so you have a chance to win several times and they take credit
card. If you will e-mail me at laurelbranches@netscape.net, I will
send you the address of the Indian company. They also have a website
but must have cash in advance of shipment. They have been very honest
so far. I will soon be auctioning some of my excess at cost at Ebay
which will include some of the faceted beads.

Advice for selling: I have found that consignment is very risky. I
have always been on the loosing end. Some large department stores do
have a day usually once a month that they buy from individuals. They
usually pay cash on the spot so have your car loaded. The buyer will
give you 30 to 60 seconds to present a representation of your
creations. If they like then they will ask to see more and pick and
choose from your assortment. I found one that did this in Alabama and
I understand several in New York city do so also. I have not tried
this in Houston because several smaller jewelry stores take all I can
produce. I just called around and after several phone calls got an
appointment.

I am not sure this will help, or if it is what you are looking for.
There are semi-precious faceted beads sold on a Website called AZgems.
I think the site Url is www.azgems.com They have all kinds of
different types of beads from tanzi, sapphire to onyx. some are faceted
some are round, or elongated. But, check it out. If this is the wrong
address, email me, I will check again to see if I messed up the
address. I have purchased garnet, pearls and amethyst from them. They
are very reliable, and fast service if you use visa.

do they have a catalog? I found a great bead store in NYC, on my
travels this week. They had all sorts of beads, plain semi-precious
and faceted. They do have a catalog, but I was told not everything is
in the book. I will be home tomorrow night, and can give you this
company’s tele, and address.

Seemed very inexpensive to me. But, everything in Ny seems inexpensive
when compared to trying to build a stock from retail stores.

The current issue of Lapidary Journal is the Bead issue. There are
dozens of sellers listed, and some deal retail. Another source is
gem shows, where you get to see before you buy. A word of warning,
however. A lot of the faceted beads you will see are native cut,
with a lot of irregularities in angles and such. Also, hole size and
angle can be irregular.
