Experience with Kliar e-coating

Hi,

Does anyone on the list have any experience with the new Kliar
e-coating system Rio is promoting? I am mainly interested in what
public acceptance has been and durability?

Thanks in advance
Gerry

I have been using it for over a year and my clients and I love it.
my silveritems can sit in the show case for ever and not need to be
polished. Well Iwill not live that long but it does hold up well.
The new header coating isbest for a clear coat.

I called Rio for having the system shipped overseas to work with it.

The midas system, beakers and other tools are not a problem.

The chemicals however can not be shipped due to the hazardous
character of the items.

I can’t find any company who deals with this kliar in Europe…
such a shame! The funny part is that this is a Legor product made in
Italy.

I klear is actually made by Legor and is a Italian company. You
might contact them directly.

You can ship them by ship. not by air.

I blogged on this.

I think this blog post might help you.

Is there an Italian supplier? Maybe it has a different name there?

I think in Europe it might be called cerimix. Go to Legor.com here
is their video on it. CERAMIX - Nano Ceramic E-Coating - YouTube

I just wanted to let you know that I just confirmed with our
international department that we can ship all Kliar e-coating
solutions and the Ceramix solution internationally.

You should be able to find electrocleaner and a acid dip or
neutralizer locally.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Hans for your help, I really appreciate it! I need to get
in contact with Legor to have the chemicals send to my address.

I hope that this stuff will work well with shibuishi in order to
have a scratch free protective coate on top of it.

I read your blog and as far as I understand it, your thinking of
having a second layer of kliar coating on top of your first one? That
aint a bad idea if it works. I don’t see a reason why it whouldn’t
but still you never know.

May I bother you with a second question? Do you use the elctro
cleaner provided by Legor or will any type of electro cleaner do with
the kliar product? The reason why is that I already have a solution
from the Fischer company in Pforzheim.

It lookes stupid to buy another one if that one will do.

Thank you again for your time and info.

Thanks to all of you for helping me with this topic in a world where
everything seems to be based on time and money!

Hi Pedro,

having a second layer of kliar coating on top of your first one?

I only put one layer on. I don’t think two can be put on because
once the piece is covered it becomes non-conductive.

I don’t see why Fischer’s electro cleaner would not work. I used
Reactive Metals’ one and it worked just fine.

It’s a pity this conversation didn’t happen two months ago, because
a internet friend from Ireland asked me about the product for his
copper lights, so I sent him the remaining four liters I had.

I would have gladly sent you two liters.

I figured I rather give the excess away, because it has a shelf life
of six months and I was approaching that time limit.

Anyway, it is a good product and the Italian company was a pleasure
to deal with.

Regards, Hans.

Hello Hans,

I found something that might interest you concerning Kliar coating
(known as ceramix) This company deals directly with Rio Grande on a 1
to 1 bases.

One can order products from Rio Grande whixh will be delivered in
Holland without all the taxes and shipping costs.

In mather of fact you pay -according the that I
received- the price times 1,1 plus shipping towards your country from
the Netherlands.

International shipping is skipped!

This is my way to show you howmuch I appreciate the way you helped
me.

However, there is one backdraft, their site is written in dutch but
please contact them (if you like) to receive more info.

Best regards
Pedro
