[Exhibition] Jewelry + Objects 2011

Please join us August 6th for the opening reception of the "Jewelry

  • Objects 2011 Exhibition" at the Midland Center For the Arts, MCFTA.
    While the exhibition will run from August 13th through September
    23rd, the evening of August 6th will be a special night. A night to
    get together as a group and celebrate our accomplishments, see work
    that we have not yet seen and celebrate with the announcement of the
    awards.

The “Jewelry + Objects 2011 Exhibition” is a national juried
exhibition featuring the work of 39 artists and 55 selected pieces,
which will also include 23 additional pieces by 16 accepted high
school student from two regional high schools.

This years’ juror is Marilyn da Silva. Marilyn is the Professor and
Program Chair of the Jewelry/Metal Arts Department at California
College of the Arts in Oakland where she has been since 1987. Before
moving to California, she taught from 1978-87 at Bowling Green State
University in Ohio. She earned her MFA in Jewelry Design and
Metalsmithing at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and her BS
in Art Education at Bowling Green State University. She was made a
Fellow of the American Craft Council in 2007.

This year’s exhibition is at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and
Art of The Midland Center For the Arts, MCFTA, in Midland, Michigan.
Other exhibitions on display include “The Mortician’s Grandson: Marco
Lorenzetti Photographs” and the “MCFTA’s Faculty and Student
Exhibition”.
