I must admit, I have been one to be lurking in the background taking
in all the good that is being shared on Orchid. Let me
take this opportunity to thank everyone for the good postings. I
appreciate the oppeness and honesty in which many things are shared.
Now the time has come for me to ask for advice. Can anyone offer
adive or help?
I find myself doing too much of my costing and production planning on
spreadsheets and databases which I design. After many years of
experience I realise that there is a limitation of how much I can
organise. Therefore, I am looking for entry level ERP manufacturing
software that is or can be tailored to the jewelry industry. I want
to be able to know my actual costing order by order, product by
product. I want to have better calculation of Work in Process and
also know my actual material consumption etc. etc.
I realise that this will radically change the way I am working at
present, but this is what we need. I have the in-house ability to
implement the software with initial hand holding from supplier.
I know there are programs like Navision and others, which can be
tailored to the jewelry industry and work very well, but are far too
costly for me.
Is anyone using any kind of serious software that can offer some
practical advice?
