Engraving titanium jewelry

Is it better to engrave titanium with a machine or by hand? The
machines I have seen are expensive and limit the user to the patterns
that are included in the machine’s software package.

Hi Karen,

That’s a pretty open ended question. Engrave what? How? Are you
talking lettering or images? Patterns or freehand?

Ti’s going to kill a standard one flute “V” rotary engraving cutter,
but works just fine with a diamond scratch point. (both in a CNC or
pantograph engraver.)

It’s a middling pain for a powered hand engraver, like a GraverMach
or similar. You can hand engrave it with just push engravers. It’s a
pain, but not any worse than stainless steel.

FWIW,
Brian

If your going to engrave titanium, you need to use the pure grade,
as its the softest.

The V4 A6 alloy is for serious strength requirements and almost
impossible to use let alone engrave.

Just try it!!
