Enamelling 14k gold filled

Hello! Since I can enamel 14k gold, is 14k gold filled thick enough
gold to enamel? Thanks!

some of my students did an experiment with GF and found the “double
clad” stuff did fine with a really attentive application of
’clear-fyr’ or a similar counter enamel with most enamelling
processes - forget sgraffito or any process that tempts you to use a
scribe or similar sharp tool to ‘carve’,make lines, or otherwise
potentially damage the gold layer. I remember that their plique
a’jour pieces came out quite nice!..rer

You can prepare the armature either by piercing a plate or by
soldering wires together. I imagine with gold fill you must do the
latter.

Can you post a picture of your project? I do not understand why you
would need to cut into the gold.
