Enameling 101

Dear All,

I have to do silver jewelry enameling. I never did enameling.Is it
possible to remove old enamel and insert a new one also. Do I need
to use special tools for this.Is it expensive process. Can you teach
me how to do it.

a a huge can of worms to open up. special tools for this.Is it
expensive Absolutely, all new tools along with your regular jewelry
tools. Expensive? Yes, no everything is relative. Can this forum
teach you. NO. Can you learn the basics from a book? Yes. Do a
little reading.

Indika, you say have to do enameling. Why is enameling required?
Could you use colored resin? Something to consider, before you commit
yourself to the tools and study enameling will require.

There’s an excellent book on how to enamel: Linda Darty, “The Art of
Enameling”. I think reading this book will answer many of your
questions. It answered most of mine.
