I’d like to start some enamelling (WH Ball lead free transparent mainly). At the moment I’m sifting, but I’m interested in champleve and possibly some time in the future cloisonné. Can I use sifting enamels to wet pack? Or should I buy enamels specifically for wet packing?
Any and all advice would be welcome!

The enamels you’re using are fine for wet-packing. . Please see Linda Darty’s book “The Art of Enameling” or Karen Cohen’s book “The Art of Fine Enameling” for further information. These are the best books for information on the different enameling processes.

Short answer: Yes you may use sifting enamels for champleve, cloisonne, basse-taille. I’m not an expert but I’ve done ok. The main difference regarding using enamels is they have to be sifted and washed to remove “cloudy” fine grains for high clarity of transparents, especially for cloisonne. I concur on the enameling book suggestions too.
Linda Darty’s book, ‘The Art of Enamelling’ is brilliant! Thanks.
