[Enamel Bits] Procedures and supplies

I have an order for a number of class rings. I have made some of
these in the past and used the epoxy enamels to color them. The
customer insists on hard fired enamel. I could send them out for this
but the cost is high and I’d like to experiment with doing it myself.
I’ve tried enameling in the past with limited success. I think the
main problem was that the enamel grains were too large. I had
problems with bubbles in the enamel and great difficulty in
separating the colors. Anybody out there have experience with this
type of enameling? Any books on the subject or suppliers names would
be appreciated. What gold alloys are best for enameling, or does it
matter? Thanks, R. Hood
