Drawing a bead?

I am considering learning soldering and chainmaking techniques (so far, I
only do wirewrap). I got Tim McCreight’s book. What exactly is he talking
about when he refers to drawing a bead?

He is refering to heating the tip of the wire with your torch until it
becomes molten and forms into a bead.

I didn’t look it up but I would use it to describe a method, simple, of
causeing the end of a metal wire to draw up by surface tension when a
direct flame is applyed to the end of it. It is not hollow and would be
hard to drill a hole though it. It can be used as stopper for beads as in
bead dangles and for decorative purposes. They are often not perfect
little balls but may be altered by filing etc. Marilyn Smith
