Draw bench

Thanks to all who responded to the draw bench question… I like the
idea of having whatever size wire I need at my disposal. I think the
winch ideas were my favorite!

I’ll start looking into it.

 2) Keep the wire oiled prior to going into the drawplate. I use a
black paper clamp with a wad of oiled cotton inside.

Hello all, I sometimes need to have thinner wire then I have, then I
draw the wire from a good quality draw plate. But I use melted beas
wax to lubricate the wire. Is oil better? Kind regards from Turkey,

Andrew, since you’re interested in this approach I thought I’d put
up a couple web pages on the winch-based bench I built. For lack of a
better name I’ve called it “The $200 DIY Drawbench”

We’ve just uploaded this so things might take a day or two to
propagate. The rest of the site is still “under construction” as
they say so it’s only those two pages for now.

Cheers,
Trevor F.

FWIW I need to update that URL. “The $200 DIY Drawbench” is now at
