[Donating] Shop Equipment

Hi, I am going to have to give away my shop equipment and I was
wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I am thinking maybe
a school. Michael P.S. I am in Hawaii.

We are a not-for-profit guild and affiliated with a major university
in St. Louis.

Please advise what kind of equipment you have and how we can avail
ourselves of it. Thanks.

or the Honolulu Art Academy’s Education Center at Linekona School
(across Victoria from Thomas Square) would love to accept donations of
tools and supplies.

I have not had experience giving away equipment. However, the
jewelry studio at the Arts Center of the Capital District (Troy, NY)
has welcomed contributions in the past. Also the Center has posted
notices when jewelers, who were closing up wanted to sell off
equipment and/or materials, had items for sale. Students and faculty
were delighted at the “great deals” they got.

Michael, I’ve only got a minute to write. I had some equipment to
donate, and put it up on Orchid. I got about 90 replies
offline(suggested). I was looking for a school for 3 reasons, One to
help learning jewelers needing equipment and ,two to use their
organization to take the donation off on taxes(they will supply you
with a form or receipt etc.) 3, they will pay for the shipping,
which in your case could get expensive, depending on weight and
distance. Suggest you find a school or organization in Hawaii. Write
me if you have any more questions Thomas Blair Island Gold Works
