The physical properties of the two stones are quite different:
Jet/Gagat has a spec. gravity between 1 and 2, while onyx is
between 2 and 3. The hardness of Jet/Gagat is 4,5 to 6 while
onyx is about 7. Another thing is: if you ever tried to hold the
two types in your hand at the same time, you would feel that
Jet/Gagat is much “warmer” and “friendlier” to feel than onyx.
