Dichroic Glass

Hi Everyone,

I have seen some beautiful dichroic glass set in sterling silver
as pendants, bracelets, earings and brooches on one of the home
shopping network. Has anyone in this group tried the dichroic
glass?

I have made dichroic cabs and set them in silver.

pendants and cabs.

I took a 3-hour workshop on dichroic glass. Learn enough to
experiment. The firing process requires some watching over.
(Don’t have my instructions in front of me so this part is from
memory.) After reaching the firing temp, you need to quickly
drop the temp to somewhere around 900 F and hold for about 20
minutes. Then let it cool naturally.

There is a lot more to it than that, but this process suffices
for me because I sometimes use dichroic accents on PMC jewelry.
The glass fuses into the PMC but the usually shears parallel to
the surface. A dab of glue and it works beautifully.

Hi, Candyce- Hope you had fun in the Caribbean- What kind ( brand
) of dichro glass are you using? Who is supplier? anne

Hi, Saw your posting. I am new to Orchid and a ‘newbie’ to the
jewelry sales world. I have been doing fabrication for about
three years. Could you please include me in on your list of
suppliers for dichoric glass cabs? I would be very much
appreciative. Thank you, Ed
