DeskProto

Hello, Does anyone uses DeskProto as a CAD-software in combination
with Rhino? Having read the general and the DeskProto
tutorial, this system strikes me as very complicated - or is this not
so? Also, I am not sure whether the combination of Rhino and
DeskProto would be the best one. Is there anyone who has experience
in using Deskproto and, if so, would s/he be willing to elaborate on
this program a bit? Any relevant
would be very appreciated. Thank you for reading. Best, Will

Hello, Does anyone uses DeskProto as a CAD-software in combination
with Rhino?

You mean, as a CAM (Computer Assisted Machining) software in
combination with Rhino’s CAD (Computer Assisted Design)?

Having read the general and the DeskProto tutorial,
this system strikes me as very complicated - or is this not so?

No, it’s not so. They’ve deliberately simplified the process to the
very minimum that must be decided. But you’ll always want to size
your tool, set up a roughing and finish pass, set feedrates, etc-
it’s just not as simple as hitting the “print” button.

Also, I am not sure whether the combination of Rhino and DeskProto
would be the best one.

It may not be the very best for everything, but it’s a good
combination of simplicity, flexibility, and economy. And you get a
substantial discount for buying both programs at the same time.

Is there anyone who has experience in using Deskproto and, if so,
would s/he be willing to elaborate on this program a bit? Any
relevant would be very appreciated. Thank you for
reading. Best, Will

Sure- is there anything particular you’re unclear about?
