pearl design competition. Does anyone know or remember…

Jewelry Design Competitions

American Vision Awards are an annual competition sponsored by the
Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths of America. Jewellery pieces
are judged based on the following criteria: originality, creativity,
presentation, effective use of materials, wearability and the
perceived ability to be manufactured and sold. The competition is
open to any independent designers, not now employed full-time by a
manufacturer. Pieces must be submitted in early January for judging in

Australian Jewellery Design Awards are a biannual event to showcase
and “recognize the wealth of talent, design and manufacturing skills

Canadian Jeweller Buyer’s Choice Every year Canadian Jeweller Magazine

Diamonds International Of all the jewellery design competitions the
most famous is Diamonds International. This is sponsored by DeBeers.
This competition happens every two years (Even numbered years.) The
award ceremony takes place in Europe, with Paris being a popular
destination. This competition is very “designer friendly”. You enter a
drawing of the design and NOT a finished piece. If you win you must

Diamonds Today
This is the national version of Diamonds International. It also takes
place every two years, in the odd numbered years. In North America
there are separate Canadian and United States competitions. As with
the other DeBeers sponsored competition, you submit a drawing of your

Jewel Award An annual competition sponsored by Jewelers of America. It
is only open to paid-up JA exhibitors and the designer must be a full
time employee. There are categories for both women’s and men’s
jewellery. You can enter a maximum of one piece in each category. Each
entry must be an original rendering. If your piece is chosen as a
finalist you have about 8 weeks to make it. The winners are announced
at the JA International Jewelry Show in New York in February. Jewelers

NICHE magazine. The awards recognize the achievements of American

Platinum Honors is an annual competition that is an adjunct to
Spectrum. Any piece that is entered for Spectrum can also be entered
in this competition. 75% of metal used in the jewellery must be 90% or

Spectrum Sponsored by the AGTA, American Gem Trade Association,
this annual competition is designed to showcase natural colored
gemstone jewellery. The 15 awards, first second and third in 5
divisions, are handed out at a dinner that takes place during the AGTA
Show in Tucson in February. The deadline for entries is in September
with judging taking place in October. You must submit a finished piece
of jewellery to enter this competition. All entries must be original
