Jewelry Design Competitions
American Vision Awards are an annual competition sponsored by the
Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths of America. Jewellery pieces
are judged based on the following criteria: originality, creativity,
presentation, effective use of materials, wearability and the
perceived ability to be manufactured and sold. The competition is
open to any independent designers, not now employed full-time by a
manufacturer. Pieces must be submitted in early January for judging in

Diamonds International Of all the jewellery design competitions the
most famous is Diamonds International. This is sponsored by DeBeers.
This competition happens every two years (Even numbered years.) The
award ceremony takes place in Europe, with Paris being a popular
destination. This competition is very “designer friendly”. You enter a
drawing of the design and NOT a finished piece. If you win you must

Jewel Award An annual competition sponsored by Jewelers of America. It
is only open to paid-up JA exhibitors and the designer must be a full
time employee. There are categories for both women’s and men’s
jewellery. You can enter a maximum of one piece in each category. Each
entry must be an original rendering. If your piece is chosen as a
finalist you have about 8 weeks to make it. The winners are announced
