Cool New Book!

Hi All; This may not seem relevant to jewelry, but bear with me, I
think some of you will find this interesting. Just had to tell you
about this fabulous book I found. I was doing a workshop on sand
casting for a local blacksmith and met the authors and the second I
saw this book, I had to have it. The authors got ahold of a bunch of
real old locks, padlocks, door locks, locks for chests, etc., and
figured out how they were made and made copies. They provide step by
step instructions and templates for reproducing these beautiful old
mechanisms. There’s no reason why the templates couldn’t be copied at
much smaller scale and the locks made of fine metals. Might make for
some interesting jewelry. I don’t know when I’ll find the time to
try it, but I just knew that I’d never see the how to on these things
again if I didn’t get a copy. I talked to him last night about my
own book writing project, and he told me that Amazon.com is carrying
his book now.
