Converting digital images to slides?

Hello Orchidland,

I know that images from slides can be digitized. Can digital images
be converted to slides??? Juries seem to want slides.

Thanks for sharing,
Judy in Kansas

Yes, they can…I had one of my local shops do it…they were called
Photo Quik 1 hr…they may be a chain…but there are online
sources as well, for example:

I have nothing but great things to say about the work Charlie does,
quick turnaround, fast shipping and amazing slides.

I use iprintfromhome.com and really love them. Their work is
excellent quality, quick, and affordable. No connection other than a
very satisfied customer.

Judy,

I think if you bring your images to one of those photo developing
places, you can have them converted into slides. Maybe even Walmart
can do it.

According to my photographer (Larry Sanders), the only good way to
do this, presently, is to make a large-format print and shoot slides
of it in a copy stand. I had him do just that with my recent booth
shot-- it was cheaper than having him shoot it on film and go the
other way (and I got to see the image on his computer and kibbitz
before he shot it).

My own experience trying to get slides from digital images
previously (from the local camera store that does my processing, not
Walgreens) supports what he told me-- they were definitely not
jury quality.

*not* jury quality.

This is the reason I highly recomend Charlie at gammatech.com 90% of
the slides he does is artwork specifically for juried competition.
Oh, and ill add that im not affiliated with them, just a happy
customer that is fortunate he is local to me.

It’s easy, it’s cheap and it’s the only way any more to get slides -
shooting 36 pictures, waiting for developing, finding out your color
or exposure or what ever is wrong and there is dirt on the back
ground and lint on the jewelry is just too painful. Shoot it
digitally, photoshop out the problems, and shell out $2 for your
first slide, $1 for second and subsequent. I use coloradocamera.com

You can email your files to them or send a cd, in the price they
make the digital image fit to slides.

Before you send digital images to anyone for slides, read this:

Larry Berman is the artist’s best friend in helping us understand
digital images, slides, and how juries see them. Juries are wanting
both slides and digital images. So its best to have both. Larry has
lead in helping shows figure it out, helping set up the ZAPP system,
and has numerous free tutorials on his site to help artists figure
it out and do it right.
