Considering going on my own

Hi.

I’m considering leaving my current place of employment, where I have
done ALL repairs and store stock setting for 5 years now. I am the
only one in town doing ANY repairs, but the management isnt worth the
hassell anymore. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about
this, and how I can start out with Stuller, or anyone for an account,
and just what steps do I need to take first?

Any and all help appreciated!
Thanks,
Connie in LA,

Well Connie, big step. The American dream.

Before you put in your notice.

Are you going to open a retail store or trade shop?

If trade shop, do you have accounts already lined up?

Stuller will sell you on a credit card but if they are sticky at
first, there are plenty of findings houses just as good (really) and
cheaper

Roseco
R Findings
Agem
Southeastern Findings.

And they will readily give you an account.

Do you already have all of the tools you need? Safe? Insurance? Do
you have some stash of money because that’s one thing that won’t flow
if you’re a trade shop.

If you’re a retail store…

Locations?
Showroom furniture?
Alarm?
Safe?
Advertising?

If these items aren’t planned out 1st, you could starve to death and
only wish you had your old job back without the old boss.

If you’re retail, a good visible location is vital. Maybe rent a
store within a store.

I know one guy who has a kiosk in a grocery store. Someone else
rents space in a nail salon.

I did what you did 32 years ago. I had trade accounts all lined up
and had been buying tools, gold and findings for 2 years so when I
opened I was debt free and had several accounts.

Good luck
