Oppi Untract’s Jewelry Concepts and Technology gives a formula of
ammonia and acetone for cleaning old ivory. I seem to remember
cleaning piano keys with milk. Does anyone have another formula
for cleaning old necklaces of ivory or bone? Thanks. Bill in Vista

Bill, I used to clean my piano keys with a solution of vinegar
and water. It cleans but will not remove any yellowing (which, I
believe, is permanent once it occurs). Jan
