Classified ads for jewelers?

I understand that the Orchid Forum is for and discussion,
not selling. Does anyone know of an online classified service
directed toward jewelers? Someplace for selling tools, equipment, or
as in my case, a whole jewelry store?

Any info would be appreciated.

I am listowner of two such groups–beadsandmoreclassifieds (yahoo
group) which is primarily for jewelry people–feel free to
advertise–as long as it relates to jewelry. Replies go to the
individuals–not to whole board–thus keeping it fairly uncluttered.
This is a service group.

The other one is TheCraftClassifieds (also a yahoo group) but it
covers all crafts.

There are others–both of these are for profit groups.

I hope this was OK to say here. I am a member of so many groups I
can’t keep all of them straight.

John,

Your query about classified ads for jewelers brings to mind a
communication problem that is epidemic on this forum. I am talking
about people needing to have access to goods and services without
telling people what geographic market they are talking about. In
your case, there may be any number of options, but the best options
might be those available in your region or state. Here again, in
another of todays’ postings someone was seeking a source for baroque
pearls. In this instance, since I also buy lots of baroques, it would
be a lot more sensible to know where one might be looking inasmuch as
baroque pearls should never be bought sight unseen. There are so many
variables with pearls that in person purchase is a given. In the
previous instance John is looking to sell his business. There is a
great internet site for California businesses for sale and the site
is read by people anywhere in the world. The catch is that it must
be a California business. In other instances, if a person is selling,
let’s say, a twenty four inch diamond saw, it is logical to assume
that those living closest to it would be the reasonable buyers
simply because said saw would be extremely difficult to transport.

Hello

Very true there should be Classified Ads for Jewelers, may Orchid
could have a seperate Mailing Group for Posting Classified Ads as
per location.

Well a best resource, even better than classifieds is, a Trade Fair,
preferably a Trade Only Trade Fair, it is not only the best source
to locate hard to find items, but could see all items physically.

Silver Jewelry sold on internet by websites, with attractive
photographs would never speak of the level of porosity the minute or
major scratches, uneven stone setting or uneven polish done on some
part of the peice, wether the bails are clear from inside the depth
and balance of the peice!!! For Jewelers/retailers or wholesale the
best is to visit a trade fair for sourcing.

Trade Fairs like JCK, Tucson, are not only the best sources but also
a great learning experience! Just like going back to school and
getting educated and updated of the latest products and technology,

Thanks

One option is Craigslist.org. This is a very varied and free list of
all kinds of goods and services plus much more. Look at
http://newyork.craigslist.org/ There are links here to many cities
world wide.
