I want to second Marta’s suggestion to try Mendocino Arts Center.
I’ve attended classes there - it’s a great school - excellent
teachers, good facilities, lovely place to spend a few days. Room
accommodations at the school are spartan but for the price quite
comfortable, not much to do evenings, but most people go back to the
labs which are open to students at night. Think you would enjoy it
tremendously. This is only my personal impression.

Also, in California, there is another school called the California
Institute of Jewelry Training, located in Carmichael, CA, near
Sacramento.
They have traditional bench jewelry classes to jewelry art workshops.
