Calling silversmiths and jewelers west of Boston:
We need one more student for this class at the DeCordova Museum
School in Lincoln, MA (30 minutes west of Boston). It is a fabulous
studio with more hammers and stakes than many university studios, as
well as a 50 ton hydraulic press that students and I donated to the
studio. This is a class for intermediate and advanced metalsmiths.
Here’s the class description: Students will create their own designs
for sculpture, jewelry, and/or hollowware. Technical demonstrations
will respond to participants’ interests and needs; raising,
anticlastic forming, hydraulic press, and kum boo are among the many
possibilities. Students who wish to learn to raise a bowl or forge a
spoon are welcome. Students and the instructor discuss and critique
designs one-on-one, as well as in a group.
