Chicago area free workshop on safety

Hi all,

Below is the text from a flyer for a workshop on safety. It’s
specifically for high school art teachers, but I think anyone could
learn and benefit from it.

Also, the instructor will give her lecture on History of Jewelry,
which is really good.

SAFETY ISSUES in the JEWELRY STUDIO

Prof. Kathy Kamal of the College of DuPage is offering a workshop to
update safety for jewelry studios and discuss
alternative metal techniques. The goal of the class is to bring art
teachers together to form a supportive atmosphere to have
conversation about jewelry/metal studios. Topics include general
safety concerns, handling & management of hazardous substances,
considerations for using various kinds of torches, etching,
ventilation concerns, and much more.

In addition, Kathy will give her highly-acclaimed History of Jewelry
lecture - from the Guillotine to the Libertine, to provide
inspiration to you in support of your own and your students’ work.

Friday, May 27, 2005 10 am - 2 pm, McAninch Art Center Room 162
There is No Charge for this Workshop

We will order lunch out, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you
